Making a donation to Build Like a Girl means you are actively supporting tradeswomen and young people to enter into a rewarding construction career with the right support, guidance and opportunities when faced with the gendered barriers and challenges still prevalent in our industry.

HOW IS THE MONEY SPENT?

Direct Financial Scholarships: We directly hand out thousands of dollars in financial scholarships to female participants. This money assists them with the cost of living, buying their first sets of trade tools, and purchasing safety equipment. In 2026 we have provided over $18,000 in direct financial support and aide.

Free Training & Course sponsorship : We provide funding sponsorship for courses and training for women and gender diverse people to get their start. Whether its getting a whitecard, high risk licence work or studying at TAFE and covering course fees, we provide the on the ground support needed to take that first step.

Program Delivery: Your contribution pays for renting training environments, course materials, and training gear used to get unemployed or financially disadvantaged women into stable trade careers.

PPE/Tools & Equipment : In the past 5 years we have spent over $50,000 on PPE, tools and equipment for women starting their apprenticeship journey. In 2025 alone we spent a staggering $18,000 on replacing stolen tools where young women did not have insurance and otherwise would not have been able to work. Getting them back on their feet quickly, with the right gear is where we play our part.

Counselling & Psychology Services: We provide funding and financial support to women who have experienced harassment and detrimental treatment needing professional guidance and treatment. With no specific female service available in the industry, we have partnered with a group of Trauma-informed mental health and psychological support clinics tailored to women’s needs.
